Sometimes data for all the time stamps may not be available, and hence plotting all the points may not be a possibility. In our example, let us suppose that the only data points available were the ones used in the first graph. In such cases, the time gaps in the scale still need to be consistent and the line joining the data points should be converted to a dotted line to indicate the unavailability of data for certain timestamps (see Figure 4.6).
